A Letter from our President

Greetings and welcome to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Iota Phi Omega Chapter website. I am proud to serve as Chapter President for the 2025–2027 administration under the leadership of our Great Lakes Regional Director, Gwendolyn L. Kirtley.
Our chapter has been dedicated to “Service to All Mankind” since 1973. Located along the beautiful shores of Lake Erie, we proudly serve the Lorain County and Sandusky areas. We have a long-standing history of serving our communities with enthusiasm and unwavering dedication.

Iota Phi Omega Chapter is home to many noteworthy accomplishments. Did you know, Iota Phi Omega hosted the first joint cluster between Northern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania and the 23rd Regional Director Patricia Petty Wilson was the cluster coordinator and was a chartering member of this great chapter.

Additionally, while our dear Ivy Beyond the Wall, the incomparable Toni Morrison, was not a member of Iota Phi Omega Chapter, she was a native of Lorain, Ohio. Our chapter assisted in celebrating her legacy by helping to erect her historical marker in Lorain and establishing her birthday as a yearly celebration. What truly makes our chapter exceptional is our multigenerational membership. We are proud to have our Gen/Next members working alongside our Golden and Diamond Sorors. Together, we are truly making a difference. Under the leadership of International President Danette Anthony Reed, the current administration’s theme is Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. Our six key initiatives include:

  • Empowering Our Families™

  • Building Our Economic Wealth™

  • Enhancing Our Environment™

  • Advocating for Social Justice™

  • Uplifting Our Local Communities™

  • Strengthening Our Sisterhood™

The Iota Phi Omega Chapter ensures that we uphold the values of our beloved sorority. Our members embody high academic achievement, exceptional leadership, and a proven dedication to service within our communities and beyond. We remain committed to building strong community partnerships and look forward to connecting as we continue to strengthen the communities of Lorain and Sandusky.
