A Letter from our President
Greetings and welcome to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated®️ Iota Phi Omega Chapter website. I am proud to serve as chapter president for the 2025-2027 administration under our Great Lakes Regional Director, Jackie Davis-Betserai.
Our chapter has been dedicated to “Service to all Mankind” since 1973. We have been proud to serve the communities along the beautiful Lake in the counties of Lorain and Sandusky, making connections to help meet the needs of our communities is a very serious matter.
Did you know that Iota Phi Omega chapter hosted the first joint cluster between Northern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania when our very own chartering member the 23rd Regional Director Patricia Petty Wilson, was the cluster coordinator?! We are also proud that author, Pulitzer Prize winner and Nobel Prize-winning sorority sister Toni Morrison is from Lorain, Ohio and this chapter was instrumental in placing her historical marker in our community after her passing.
Under the leadership of International President Charletta Wilson Jacks, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated ®️ will be bold and transformational as the sorority’s call to action is designed to strengthen communities, empower families, elevate future leaders and expand the global impact of service.
Our signature program, AKA Foster the Future: From Here to Hope is a call to action to uplift vulnerable children and families to foster a sense of belonging. The new Targets for 2026-2030 include:
Target 1: Educational Support and Advocacy
Target 2: AKA Family Matters
Target 3: Health Awareness and Well-Being
Target 4: Economic Growth and Success
Target 5: Environmental & Sustainability Action
Target 6: Arts and Advocacy & Cultural Awareness
Target 7: The Global Community
Target 8: Undergraduate Impact Program
The Iota Phi Omega Chapter ensures that we will continue to uphold the values of our beloved sorority. Our members embody high academic achievement, exceptional leadership and a proven dedication to service within our communities.
We remain committed to building strong community partnerships and look forward to implementing our new programs to create a lasting impact- one service at a time in the Lorain and Sandusky areas.
Sincerely,
Tamika R. Bonilla, President
